History

Automation Printing has been a fixture in Southern California for more than 60 years. The company evolved from Colortone Litho Plate Co., a film and plate trade shop that opened its doors in 1949.

From the outset, Automation Printing built a reputation as one of the few trade printers in Los Angeles capable of assisting small printers with large press work and larger firms with small press jobs.

There has been one constant through the years. We have always set our sights on studying the latest advances in printing technology. By partnering with such top equipment manufacturers as Heidelberg and Xerox, we have consistently been able to broaden the services offered to our loyal customers and new clients.

In 1975, we were one of the original companies to order the Xerox 9200, the first high-speed copier to become available.

Then in 1995, Automation Printing was the first company in Los Angeles and only the 10th in the nation to install a color digital printing press.

Today, we are housed in a 30,000-square-foot facility in downtown Los Angeles. Our massive plant is filled with all the equipment we need to serve as a one-stop source for offset and digital printing, binding and finishing, mailing, warehousing and fulfillment. We also have departments that assist customers with their creative and design needs.

Our staff consists of 25 full-time employees who average 20 years of experience in the printing industry. There is very little turnover, so you can expect to deal with the same well-trained and dedicated staff members each time you call on us.

And if there’s an occasion when we need to farm out some aspects of a job, we can turn to a network of subcontractors who will deliver the same quality results our customers have come to expect.

We’d be glad to tell you more about Automation Printing and how we can serve your different business needs.
